Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
▌Function of Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC maintains the
set speed on free-flowing roads. If vehicles are
detected ahead, the set distance is maintained, if
necessary until the vehicle comes to a standstill.
The vehicle accelerates or brakes depending on
the distance to the vehicle in front and the set
speed. The speed and distance to the vehicle in
front are set and saved using the steering wheel.
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is available at
speeds of 15 mph (20 km/h) to 130 mph
(210 km/h).
Other features of Active Distance Assist
DISTRONIC:
Adjusts the driving style depending on the

selected drive program (energy-saving, com-
fortable or dynamic)
Initiates acceleration to the stored speed if the
R
turn signal indicator is switched on to change

inter-
to the overtaking lane
Reacts to stationary vehicles detected in the
R
urban speed range (except bicycles and
motorcycles)
Takes one-sided overtaking restrictions on
R
highways or multi-lane roads with separate
roadways into account (country-dependent)

In the DYNAMIC SELECT menu, it is possible
to set the driving mode of the Active Distance
Assist DISTRONIC. Depending on the selected
drive program, the driving behavior will be
energy-saving, comfortable or dynamic. In the
Active Distance Assist menu, the driving style
can be permanently set to Comfort or
Dynamic (
page 189).

Vehicles with Active Parking Assist: if Active Dis-
tance Assist DISTRONIC has braked the vehicle to
a standstill, it can automatically follow the vehicle
in front when driving off again within 30 seconds.
If a critical situation is detected in the surrounding
area when driving off,such as a person in the vehi-
cle path, a visual and acoustic warning is given

indicating that the driver must now take control of
the vehicle. The vehicle is not accelerated any fur-
ther.
Observe the notes on driving systems and your
responsibility; you may otherwise fail to recognize
dangers (
