This chapter discusses the network screens.

5.1 Network Screens

This section gives an overview of the various features included in the network configuration
screens.
Use the network screens to:
• View the network information
• Configure your TCP/IP information and DNS server address.
• Change your Windows/CIFS server name and workgroup name.
• Enable FTP and set connection limits.

5.2 Network Introduction

Click the Network link in the Navigation panel to access the Network > Overview screen.
This is the first screen displayed.
You can click on the edit icons to go to the appropriate page to change the
settings, or you can click on the appropriate tabs or navigation panel links
instead.

5.2.1 IP Address and Subnet Mask

Similar to the way houses on a street share a common street name, so too do computers on a
LAN share one common network number.
Where you obtain your network number depends on your particular situation. If the ISP or
your network administrator assigns you a block of registered IP addresses, follow their
instructions in selecting the IP addresses and the subnet mask. The subnet mask specifies the
network number portion of an IP address.
