Exchanging the Y-carriage stepper motor

· Remove all three covers (see p. 45
removing covers).
· Remove the Y-carriage sensor
bracket (82), this is just clipped on.
· Remove the three screws (83) and
remove the Y-carriage as a
complete unit.
· Remove the two screws and the
stepper motor.
· Replace the stepper motor being
careful that no undue play occurs
between the gears.
· Replace the Y-carriage unit.
· Replace the sensor bracket, being
careful of its exact position.
· Connect to sewing machine and
make a test (no.13 Stepping
motors).
· Replace all covers.
· Remove all three covers (see page
45 removing covers).
· Disconnect the three connections.
· Remove the cable retaining bracket
(84).
· Remove four screws (85).
The whole unit can now be remo-
ved from the housing.

· Remove the two screws and the
stepper motor.
· Replace the stepper motor, being
careful that no undue play occurs

between the gears.
· Replace the whole unit and secure
with the three screws.
· Replace the cable retaining
bracket, making sure that it is fixed
firmly into place.
· Connect to sewing machine and
make a test (Test no.13 Stepping
motors)
· Replace all covers.
