UPGRADE KIT
GENERAL INFORMATION
he iUP-Fast 27/K personality module plugs into a compatible Intel PROM programmer (the
iUP-200A/iUP-201A universal programmer or the Intel personal development system (iPDS™))
and adapts it for programming a family of PROM devices.
he iUP-Fast 27/K-U2 upgrade kit
contains the hardware and the documentation necessary to upgrade your iUP-Fast 27/K personality
module. he U2 upgrade kit adds programming support for the following devices:
• EPROMs — 2764A, 27C64, 87C64, 27128A, 27C256, 27512, and 27513
• E 2 PROM — 2817A
• KEPROM — 27916
Figure 1 shows the contents of the upgrade kit, and able 1 lists the contents of the upgrade kit.

Verify the contents of the shipping carton against the list in able 1. If the contents of the shipping
carton are damaged, keep the carton and the packing material for the carrier agent ' s inspection. he
carrier is responsible for damage during shipment.
For repairs to a product damaged in shipment, contact the Intel product service center (listed in the
Service Information section) for a return authorization number and further instructions.
Intel recommends that you save the shipping carton and packing material for storage and shipment
of the product.
INSTALLATION PRO EDURES
o upgrade your iUP-Fast 27/K personality module, you need to install one PAL and one PROM.
You will need a #1 Phillips screwdriver and a 3/16-inch hex nut driver to upgrade the personality
module. Use Figures 2, 3, 4, and 5 as you perform the following steps to install the upgrade kit.

Verify that the sockets ' locking arms (see Figure 5) are unlocked (vertical position).
