AUTION
Do not switch the universal programmer ' s or iPDS system ' s power on or off
when a PROM device is installed in a socket of the personality module. Damage
to the PROM device may result.
Off-line heckout
Perform the following checkout procedures if you are using the iUP-201 A universal programmer in
off-line mode. he iUP-200A/201A Universal Programmer User's Guide describes the DEVICE
SELEC and PROG keys.
1. Insert the iUP-Fast 27 /K personality module into the universal programmer.
2. he upgrade PROM is installed correctly if you can cycle through the following display using
the DEVICE SELEC key:

he upgrade PROM is either installed incorrectly or it is defective if the following error
message is returned:
M DULE CKSUM ERR
Check the PROM installation. If the PROM is installed incorrectly, repeat the installation and
checkout procedures.
If the PROM is installed correctly and you are still getting an error message, contact the Intel
product service center.
3. o verify that the upgrade PAL is functioning properly, program a PROM using the PROG key.
If the PROM cannot be programmed, check the PAL installation. If the PAL is installed incor ­
rectly, repeat the installation and checkout procedures.
If the PAL is installed correctly and you are still getting an error message, contact the Intel
product service center.
