Speed tolerance in the driving sys-
tems
Overview
Example: display with PPC
Speed tolerance lets you determine the
extent to which the vehicle speed is allowed
to fall below/exceed the set speeds of vari-
ous driving systems.
Driving systems
Upper speed tolerance
The Ä upper speed tolerance helps to bet-
ter utilise momentum from downhill gradients
and thus save fuel. The upper speed tolerance
operates on the cruise control, distance con-
trol assistant and PPC driving systems.
For all drive programs except
A
fleet, you can set the upper speed toler-
ance between 2 and 15 km/h. In the
omy
A fleet
and
drive programs, the setting
can only be adjusted to between 4 and
15 km/h. If you set the upper speed tolerance
to between 4 and 15 km/h, the value remains
saved even after you restart the engine.
The on-board computer shows the upper
speed tolerance next to the set speed. When
cruise control or distance control assistant is
activated, the speed limiter brakes the vehi-
cle by 4 km/h by applying the continuous
brake, regardless of the set speed tolerance.
Lower speed tolerance
The Å lower speed tolerance can be set on
vehicles with PPC. By reducing power output
at the top of a hill at the correct time, the
lower speed tolerance helps save fuel.
For all drive programs except
A
fleet, you can set the upper speed toler-
ance between 0 and 10 km/h. In the
omy
A fleet
and
drive programs, the setting
can only be adjusted to between 3 and
10 km/h.
When PPC is active, the on-board computer
shows the lower speed tolerance next to the
speed.
