& WARNING Risk of injury due to excessive
load on the grab handles
If you apply your full body weight to the grab
handle or pull it abruptly, the grab handle may
be damaged or come loose from its anchor-
age. This may result in injuries.
Use the grab handles only to stabilise
#
the seating position or to assist in get-
ting in and out of the seat.
* NOTE Damage caused by objects in the
footwell or behind the rear seats.
The rear seats and/or objects may be dam-
aged during adjustment in the longitudinal
direction.
Stow the objects in a suitable place.
#
This function is available only for vehicles with a
movable rear bench seat.
The components of the rear bench seat can be
moved. You can move the right-hand and left-hand
parts together with the centre part independently
of each other. This allows you to make the foot-
well larger in either the second or third row of
seats.
Lift release handle

and slide the corre-

sponding part of the bench seat into the
desired position.
Let go of release handle 1.

Make sure that the seat is engaged.

Adjusting the rear seat backrests manually
& WARNING Risk of becoming trapped when
adjusting the seats
When you adjust a seat, you may trap yourself
or a vehicle occupant.
When adjusting a seat, make sure that
#
no one has any body parts in the sweep
of the seat.
& WARNING Risk of accident if the seat and
seat backrest are not engaged
The seat and seat backrest can fold forwards.
There is a risk of the following, in particular:
The vehicle occupant may be pressed
R
against the seat belt. The seat belt cannot
protect as intended and could cause addi-
tional injury.
A child restraint system will no longer be
R
properly supported or positioned and will
no longer fulfil its function as intended.
