About this Guide
This user guide contains installation, configuration, and operating information for the Extron DTP3 T 202 and
DTP3 R 201 long distance High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) Twisted Pair Extenders.
NOTE: Throughout this guide, the DTP3 T 202 is commonly referred to as a transmitter (Tx) and the
DTP3 R 201 as a receiver (Rx). General terms such as "device" and "unit" are also used interchangeably.
About the DTP3 T 202 Transmitter and DTP3 R 201 Receiver
The Extron DTP3 T 202 is a long distance, digital twisted pair transmitter that sends HDMI and bidirectional
RS-232 signals up to 330 feet (100 meters) over a shielded CAT6A cable to Extron DTP
HDCP 2.3-compliant transmitter supports video resolutions up to 4K/60 at 4:4:4 color sampling and features
EDID Minder .

The Extron DTP3 R 201 is a long distance, digital twisted pair receiver that accepts HDMI and bidirectional
RS-232 signals up to 330 feet (100 meters) over a shielded CAT6A cable from Extron DTP-enabled products. This
HDCP 2.3-compliant receiver supports video resolutions up to 4K/60 at 4:4:4 color sampling and features
EDID Minder.
Both devices enables the reliable transmission of HDMI 2.0b signals at data rates up to 18 Gbps supporting HDR,
Deep Color up to 12-bit, 3D, and embedded HD lossless audio formats. To ensure optimal performance, Extron
recommends XTP DTP 22 cables and accessories.

Control Communications

The RS-232 communications are passive pass-through only. The transmitter and receiver do not generate or
respond to the RS-232 communication signals.

TP Cable Advantages

Twisted pair cable is much smaller, lighter, more flexible, and less expensive than coaxial or HDMI cable. These
transmitter and receiver twisted pair (TP) products make cable runs simpler and less cumbersome. Termination of
the cable with RJ-45 connectors is simple, quick, and economical.
ATTENTION:
• Do not use Extron UTP23SF-4 Enhanced Skew-Free AV UTP cable or STP201 cable to link the
transmitter and receiver. The DTP3 T/R do not work properly with these cables.
