Driving and Operating
Warning
When the short following distance is
selected, the "BRAKE!" warning message
may not be displayed in the following
situations:
When a detected vehicle suddenly
decelerates
When another vehicle has cut just in
front of your vehicle
When there are repeated uphill and
downhill slopes
When a vehicle in front of you has
stopped or is traveling at a much lower
speed than your vehicle (e.g. traffic, toll
booth), the AEB system may display the
"BRAKE!" warning message before the
Adaptive Cruise Control system has
detected that vehicle.
In the following situations, a "BRAKE!"
warning may be activated when the
stereo camera detects a vehicle in the
adjacent lane or a roadside object:
When the road is curved or the lane is
narrow
Warning (Continued)
When the position of your vehicle in
the lane is unstable due to steering
operation, etc.
Changing the Adaptive Cruise Control
Speed Setting
When Increasing Vehicle Speed
When the cruise control resume (+) switch is
operated (rotated downward), the vehicle's
speed will increase in 5 MPH (8.1 km/h)
increments until you release the switch. The
new set speed will be shown in the DIC.
If you want to increase the speed more
(Continued)
quickly, press the accelerator pedal and
accelerate to the desired vehicle speed. Then
operate (rotate upward) the cruise control
set switch. If you want to increase the
speed quickly, press the accelerator pedal
and accelerate to the desired vehicle speed.
Then, operate the cruise control set switch.
When the Adaptive Cruise Control system is
"On" and detects a vehicle in front of you,
your speed will not increase even when you
operate and hold the cruise control
resume (+) switch, if a lower speed is
required to maintain a safe distance
between your vehicle and the vehicle in
front of you. However, because the set
speed was changed, your vehicle will
accelerate to the new set speed when the
vehicle in front of you accelerates or is no
longer detected.
If you are pressing the accelerator pedal
while the Adaptive Cruise Control system is
"ON", the system will not operate the brake
independently. However, if there is a high
risk of collision with a vehicle or another
obstacle in front of you, the Automatic
Emergency Braking system (AEB) may issue
a warning and/or operate the brakes
automatically.
