any lint and dust from the moving knife, the
fixed knife, the thread retaining plate, and
their surrounding areas.

Cleaning the bobbin case

Thread wax and dust easily collect around the hole
in the tension-adjusting spring on the bobbin case,
resulting in an incorrect thread tension. Therefore,
it should be cleaned each time when the bobbin is
changed.
Use a piece of paper with the thickness of a
business card.

Open the hook cover, remove the bobbin
case, and then remove the bobbin. (Refer to
page 38.)

Slide the paper under the tension-adjusting
spring to remove any dust.
Use a corner of the paper to remove any dust
from around the hole.
