1. Overview

1.1 Introduction

Thank you for purchasing your Tripp Lite APSWX-Series Solar Sine-Wave Inverter/Charger. The multi-function
design keeps equipment running from AC mains power or alternative power sources in your application. The built-in
AC/DC charger and solar MPPT charge controller provides a hybrid charging system that can utilize AC power, solar
power or a combination of both to ensure the battery system is charged and ready to go when you need it most.
The front control panel with LCD display provides real-time readout of all system functions and robust configuration
options to meet the needs of your application.

1.2 Important Safety Instructions

This section contains important safety and operating instructions. Read carefully and follow all
installation, operation and maintenance instructions before using this product.
• Always use the inverter in an environment that is well ventilated, not exposed to direct sunlight or a heat source,
away from water, moisture, oil or grease, away from any highly inflammable substance and out of reach from
children.
• CAUTION: To reduce the risk of injury, charge using only deep-cycle lead acid type rechargeable batteries. Other
battery types may burst, causing personal injury and damage.
• Multiple battery systems must be comprised of batteries of identical voltage, age, amp-hour capacity and type.
• Because explosive hydrogen gas can accumulate near batteries if they are not well ventilated, do not install
batteries in a "dead air" compartment. The battery compartment should have some ventilation of outside air.
• Sparks may result during final battery connection. Always observe proper polarity when connecting the batteries.
• Do not allow objects to contact the DC input terminals. Do not short or bridge these terminals together. Serious
personal injury or property damage could result.
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not dissemble the unit while in operation. Only qualified personnel should
service the unit. There are no user-replaceable parts inside.
• WARNING: The unit(s) should be powered off and all wiring disconnected before servicing or maintenance is
performed.
• The inverter is non-isolated and should only be used with PV modules that are single-crystalline, poly-crystalline
with Class A-rating or CIGS modules. To avoid malfunction, do not connect any PV modules that allow current
leakage flow to the inverter. When using CIGS modules, ensure they are not grounded.
• CAUTION: When connecting to a solar energy source, it is recommended to use a PV junction box with surge
protection. Otherwise, damage can occur to the inverter.
