SECTION 10
INSTALLING (FIGURE 3)
Wiring MUST be routed and secured properly to ensure that wiring does NOT be-
come entangled and damaged during normal operation of wheelchair operation.
1. Perform the following:
A. Inspect the coupling for wear and damage. If damage is evident, replace coupling.
B. Install coupling onto gearbox input shaft inserting coupling drive plate onto slot on shaft.
C. Carefully align motor and coupling and place motor against gearbox.
D. With motor against gearbox, turn gearbox drive shaft until the coupler seats into gearbox.
NOTE: When properly aligned, motor will be seated into gearbox.
2. Install two (2) allen screws. Use Loctite 242, tighten allen screws evenly and then torque to
75-inch lbs.
3. Install the wire harness wrap around the motor/sensor cables.
4. Feed motor/sensor cable with wire harness wrap down through base frame.
5. Connect the motor connector to the controller connector and the sensor cable to the
power take-off lead.
NOTE: Re-install the tie-wraps to secure the cables in place.
6. Secure the wire harness wrap around the motor/sensor cable with two (2) tie-wraps.
7. Secure the motor cable and sensor cable together with a tie-wrap.
8. Secure the wire harness wrap to the battery tray with tie-wrap.
9. Secure the motor cable and sensor cable to the motor mount with tie-wrap.
10. Secure the motor cable to the motor with tie wrap.
11. Install the front shroud. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING FRONT AND REAR
SHROUDS in SECTION 7 of this manual.
12. Install the batteries. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING BATTERIES in SECTION 6 of
this manual.
13. If necessary, reinstall the seat and/or the drive wheels. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALL-
ING DRIVE WHEELS in this section or REMOVING/INSTALLING SEAT FRAME in
SECTION 6 of this manual.
