9.3 LATERAL MODES

The following table lists the lateral modes with their corresponding controls and
annunciations:
Lateral Mode
Roll Hold
Heading
Navigation, GPS
Navigation, VOR Enroute
& Approach Capture/
Track
Navigation, LOC
Capture/Track (No
Glideslope)
Navigation, Backcourse
Capture/Track
Approach, GPS
Approach, LOC Capture/
Track
The CWS Button (if equipped) does not change lateral references for HDG or NAV
modes. The Integrated Autopilot guides the aircraft back to the Selected Heading/
Course upon release of the CWS Button.

Description
Holds the current aircraft roll
attitude or rolls the wings level,
depending on the commanded
bank angle
Captures and tracks the Selected
Heading (heading bug)
Captures and tracks the selected
navigation source (GPS, VOR, LOC) AP NAV
Captures and tracks a localizer
signal for backcourse approaches
Captures and tracks the selected
navigation source (GPS, LOC)
GPS Mode is automatically armed
in conjunction with GP Mode.
Captures and tracks the selected
navigation source (GPS, LOC)
LOC Mode is automatically armed
in conjunction with GS Mode.
