Chapter 5 Upgrading Symposium TAPI SP
to stop the license manager. NOTE: This step applies only to Symposium
TAPI SP versions earlier than release 3.0
5
Make a copy of the m1spdb.mdb file which is usually located in the default
installation directory (i.e. C:\m1server) and store it in a safe place. This
procedure ensures that you have a backup copy of the Symposium TAPI SP
database in the event of a system crash or other unforeseen failure during the
upgrade process. Optionally, you can backup the tsec.ini file. Windows 2000
and 2003 servers do not require the tsec.ini file for line associations, however,
it is is still included for backward compatibility.
6
Select "Start -> Administrative Tools -> Add/Remove Programs ->
Symposium TAPI Service Provider -> Remove".
7
Restart the server to save these changes.

Configuring the latest software release

After you complete the quick upgrade or full reinstall of Symposium TAPI
Service Provider for Succession, release 3.0, verify that the configuration
information contained in the m1spdb.mdb file is entered in the database tables.
Select "Start -> Programs -> Nortel -> Nortel Symposium TAPI Service Provider
for M1 -> Configure Database".
The latest release of Symposium TAPI SP software adds a Compliance tab which
provides access to the compliance administration window. This window allows
you to configure Symposium TAPI SP to support SAPphone.

Recovering database table information

If the Symposium TAPI SP database tables are not automatically configured
during the upgrade procedure, perform a manual update from the backup file you
made of the switch.dump file. To manually update the database tables:
1
In the configuration application, click the Providers tab and click Convert
Text file to display the Open window.
2
Navigate to the location of the backup you made of the switch.dump file.
Click Open to import the configuration file into the current release of the
software.
