Safety

The machine has been tested and certified by Toro for compliance with existing safety standards and
specifications. Improper use or maintenance of the machine can result in injury or death. To reduce the
potential for injury or death, comply with the safety instructions found in the Greensmaster® 1021 Greensmower
Operator's Manual, the Greensmaster® eFlex® 1021 Greensmower Operator's Manual, Greensmaster®
e1021/e1026 Service Manual, and the Greensmaster® eFlex® 1021 Service Manual and the following specific
service-related precautions.

Maintenance and Service

Before servicing or making adjustments to the machine, set the parking brake, turn the key switch to the
O
position, and remove the key from the key switch. Wait for all machine motion to stop, and then

disconnect the to prevent unintentional machine operation. Refer to
Battery (page
14).
Keep all nuts, bolts, screws, and belts properly tightened.
To reduce potential fire hazard, keep the battery, battery controller, electrical connectors, cutting unit,
and drive components free of debris.
Wear cut-resistant or heavy leather gloves and use caution when checking or servicing the cutting unit.
If you must perform maintenance or make an adjustment with the electric motor running, keep your hands,
feet, clothing, and all parts of your body away from the cutting unit and all other moving parts.
Note:
Keep bystanders away when running the electric motor for the cutting unit.
Before installing, removing, or working on the cutting unit, disconnect the battery. Refer to
Disconnecting the Battery (page
Do not open or alter the battery or the battery controller. Opening the battery or battery controller may
expose you to dangerous voltage. The warranty will be voided if you attempt to open the battery or the
battery controller. The battery and its controller contain no user serviceable parts.
If you must ship your lithium-ion battery, you will need special packaging to comply with shipping regulations.
Refer to the operator's manual for additional battery shipping information.
At the time of manufacture, the machine conformed to all applicable safety standards. To ensure optimum
performance and continued safety certification of the machine, use only genuine Toro replacement parts
and accessories.

Avoiding Injury from Lithium-Ion Batteries

Immediately discontinue use of the battery if the battery emits an unusual smell, feels hot, changes color or
shape, or appears abnormal in any other way. Move the product or battery to a safe outdoor area away
from any building, vehicle, or combustible material. Observe the battery for at least 1 hour to ensure that
any reaction has stopped. If the reaction continues, or if any smoke is observed, call your local emergency
services immediately.
Use only Toro-specified lithium-ion batteries designed for your machine.
Use only the Toro-specified lithium-ion charger designed to charge your machine. Do not attempt to use any
other battery charger.
Do not over-charge or over-discharge lithium-ion batteries.
Do not heat, puncture, or open the battery case.
Always disconnect the batteries at the battery disconnect provided when servicing products with lithium-ion
batteries.
Always service lithium-ion batteries with the machine parked near a service door large enough to move the
product or battery outside in case of an emergency and keep a fire blanket nearby.
