Applications

Third-party applications may be launched by Nextel Connection Manager, e.g. on connection establishment.
There are several Application Types supported, which are listed below. This chapter describes all Application
Types and their parameters. When defining an Application's properties you need to define the following:
Name - a descriptive name for the Application, which is used by the system for display purposes.
Type - Select from:
Custom Application
Internet Browser
Compression Client
Depending on the Type selected, there may be additional parameters to be set. These parameters are discussed
in this chapter.
Note: In some cases a generic application type, rather than a specific application is selected, e.g. an Internet
browser rather than Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape or other. This occurs when a default browser is already
defined on your system, and Nextel Connection Manager reads the system configuration files to automatically
determine the specific application.
Any user-defined application will appear under the application part of the user interface.
Custom Application
1
Choose this to start an application of any type, other than those predefined.
2
Custom application parameters:
A. Use the Application path field to browse and select the application's startup file, (usually *.exe).
B. Use the Application parameters field to list any Command line parameters needed for the application
(optional).
C. The option Stop at disconnect can be used for applications that can be closed by command line
parameters. If selected, supply the path to the stop application executable and its parameters, as
applicable.
