WiFi Scanner

Using the WiFi Scanner
The following screen appears when you click on the WiFi Scanner button. When using the default Nextel profile,
you do not have to use the scanner if you are trying to connect to a Nextel WiFi HotSpot.
The
logo means that a Nextel WiFi hotspot has been detected.
Some WiFi networks will send out their name so that a scanner can find them. Other WiFi networks will not
publish their names, in which you must manually enter the name (SSID) of the network in order to find and access
it.
Click the Refresh button to scan the local area for wireless networks. Only broadcasting networks can be found
by the WiFi scanner. You can click the Connect button to initiate a connection attempt to the wireless network
(you will be prompted to configure settings).
Connections that are "greyed out" have been pre-configured in the software and cannot be modified.
To connect to a non-broadcasting network you will need to manually enter the SSID for that network. The system
displays the following details for each network in the list:
SSID: Unique name identifying the Wireless LAN. Typically the Wireless Access Point broadcasts this.
Note: Not all networks broadcast their SSID.
Connection: If a Connection to the SSID has already been created, the connection name is listed here.
Encryption: Indicates if the network uses encryption. If so, you will have to specify a key to allow connection.
For details on the network key please contact your service provider.
Note: Nextel Connection Manager does not support 802.1x.
