Centrifuge Module Interface Operating Instructions
Processing Samples Using 2 or 4 Cassettes
Note Your logon and password authorization might not allow access to
this screen.
The Centrifuge module has 2 operating modes for loading cassettes in the
Hettich Centrifuge module:
•
2 cassettes, decreases the throughput time.
The system loads 2 cassettes with samples and 2 empty cassettes. This
is necessary for load balancing.
•
4 cassettes, maximizes the workload.
Note Spin duration and speed also effect turnaround time.
To set the Hettich unit for using 2 cassettes, perform the following steps:
1. Ensure that the Centrifuge module is offline and a spin is not in
progress.
2. On the LineMaster workspace station buttons, select Centrifuge.
If your LAS has more than one Centrifuge module, ensure you are
selecting the correct one.
3. On the Centrifuge Operations panel, select Settings.
4. On the Settings screen, select the checkbox labeled Spin only one pair
of cassettes with sample tubes during each spin cycle.
5. Select Apply.
The Centrifuge is configured to process 2 cassettes with samples.
Routing Samples to the Centrifuge
Note To prevent the system from routing samples to the Centrifuge
module, transition the Centrifuge module to the Shutdown state.
Use the Pre and Post Tests (Shift F5) assignment screens to route sample
tubes to the Centrifuge according to the criteria set in this set of screens.
For more information about using the Pre and Post Tests (Shift F5)
screens, see the ADVIA Automation Solutions Operator's Guide.
CAUTION
Do not load a centrifugation pretest in an uncapped sample tube into an
Uncapped tray section. The unspun sample will route to a Cap Off
instrument. Ensure that all samples requiring centrifugation are capped
and are loaded into sections for Capped tubes.
