    Adjusting copy quality Quality specifies the resolution used for the copy job. Resolution involves a dots-per-inch (dpi) count; the higher the dpi count, the higher the resolution and copy quality. Load paper. Load an original document facedown on the scanner glass. If necessary, press Copy Mode.

    If you are installing a black print cartridge, remove the tape from the back and bottom of the black cartridge, insert the cartridge in the left carrier, and then close the black cartridge carrier lid.     Refilling print cartridges The warranty does not cover repair of failures or damage caused by a refilled cartridge. Lexmark does not recommend use of a refilled cartridge. Refilling a cartridge can affect print quality and may cause damage to the printer. For best results, use Lexmark supplies.

    Wiping the print cartridge nozzles and contacts Remove the print cartridges. Dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with water, and place the cloth on a flat surface. Gently hold the nozzles against the cloth for about three seconds, and then wipe in the direction shown. Using another clean section of the cloth, gently hold the cloth against the contacts for about three seconds, and then wipe in the direction shown.

    Preserving the print cartridges • Keep a new cartridge in its packaging until you are ready to install it. • Do not remove a cartridge from the printer except to replace, clean, or store it in an airtight container. The cartridges do not print correctly if left exposed for an extended period of time.
