Restrictions on System Configuration

The following restrictions apply to the CP-series Expansion Units and CP-series Expansion I/O Units
that can be connected to CP2E CPU Units.
Restriction on the Number of Connected Units
A total of up to three Expansion Units and Expansion I/O Units can be connected to an E30/40/60,
S30/40/60 or N30/40/60 CPU Unit. Expansion Units and Expansion I/O Units cannot be connected to
E14/20 or N14/20 CPU Units.
Refer to 2-4-1 External Power Supply Capacity When Expansion I/O Units or Expansion Units are
Connected for power consumption calculation method to ensure it is sufficient when Expansion Units,
Expansion I/O Units and Option Board Units are connected.
Each N
-type CPU Unit can connect one device to pin 6 (+5V power supply) of the CP1W-CIF01.
Restrictions on External Power Supply Capacity
The following restrictions apply when using the CPU Unit's external power supply.
AC-power-supply E30/40/60, S30/40/60 or N30/40/60 CPU Unit
The power supply capacity is restricted for AC-power-supply E30/40/60, S30/40/60 or N30/40/60
CPU Units. It may not be possible to use the full 300 mA of the external power supply, though a CPU
Unit can connect any CP-series Expansion I/O Unit or Expansion Unit.
The entire 300 mA from the external power supply can be used if Expansion Units and Expansion
I/O Units are not connected.
Refer to 2-4-1 External Power Supply Capacity When Expansion I/O Units or Expansion Units are
Connected for details.
AC-power-supply E14/20, N14/20 CPU Unit or DC-power-supply CPU Unit
There is no external power supply.
