Configuration Tool

The configuration tool used to configure the PROFINET LAN containing the RX3i CEP Carriers
must support IO Devices configured with GSDML V2.3 files.

Adding a RX3i CEP to a LAN

Use the PROFINET I/O configuration tool to add RX3i CEP Carriers to the LAN. This process
may include importing the RX3i CEP Carriers' GSDML file. If necessary, for your application,
change the settings of the RX3i CEP Carriers' configurable parameters listed below.

Configuring a RX3i CEP

All configurations are applied on the RX3i CEP Carrier. The RX3i CEP Expansion Carrier has
neither IO data nor configuration parameters.
Input and Output Status Data
The RX3i CEP Carrier has 32-bits of Status data and 32-bits of Control (Output Status) data.
These should be mapped to the IO-Controller's memory. For definitions of these bits, refer
to Chapter 5, the section, RX3i CEP Status and Control Data.
IO-Device Access Point
The IO-Controller determines the state of the inputs when the RX3i CEP Carrier is unable to
provide them. This could happen when the RX3i CEP Carrier is not powered on, connected
to the network, or there is a network or configuration issue such that the IO-Controller
cannot communicate with the RX3i CEP Carrier. Emerson IO-Controllers support defaulting
inputs to Force Off or Hold Last State values until communication is restored.
Configuration
RX3i CEP and other types of IO-Devices use GSDML files to describe their capabilities.
The PROFINET I/O configuration tool imports these GSDML files and incorporates
the devices into the configuration.
These IO-Devices can be VersaMax or RX3i PROFINET Scanner modules, RX3i CEP Carriers or
third-party IO-Devices.
Configure the parameters of the RX3i CEP Carrier.
Configure the communications properties of the PROFINET IO-Controller and RX3i
CEP.
Add RX3i I/O modules to the RX3i CEP remote nodes.
Configure the parameters of the modules.
When the configuration is ready, use a DCP tool to assign a name to the RX3i CEP so
the PROFINET IO Controller can connect to it and deliver the configuration.
Store the configuration data from the configuration tool to the PROFINET I/O
Controller.
