IC695CEP001 Ports

2.3.1

Ethernet Network Ports

The two external RJ-45 Ethernet ports are on the underside of the CEP Carrier.
Figure 5: Underside of CEP001 Showing Ethernet Ports
The RJ-45 ports provide 10/100 Mbps copper interfaces. These ports support CAT5/5e/6
Shielded Twist-pair cabling of up to 100m. Each Ethernet port automatically senses the type
of network and adjusts speed and connection parameters. The PROFINET protocol can be
sent and received over any or both two external ports.
Devices connected to the RX3i CEP ports should have Ethernet Auto-negotiation enabled.
The RX3i CEP Carriers and other participating devices can be connected in a daisy chain/line,
or star topology.
WARNING
Do not connect both ports on the Ethernet interface, directly or indirectly, to the same
device to form a circular network unless Media Redundancy is enabled with one node actively
set up as the Media Redundancy Manager.
2.3.2

USB Port

The USB port, located on the bottom of the RX3i CEP Carrier, can be used to connect to a
computer for firmware updates for the RX3i CEP Carrier. The USB port accepts a standard
USB cable (USB Micro B Male to USB Type A Male, not included). The port must be set up
before using it, as described in the Operations chapter.
Note:
