2S* Invalid time or date in
configuration memory.
RTC (real-time clock)
battery may need to
be replaced. Battery
life is approximately
3–5 years.
CMOS jumper may not
be properly installed.
2S* Memory configuration
incorrect.
2S* System board jumper
improperly set.
Post Error Messages
Recommended Action
Reset the date and time under
Control Panel (Computer
Setup can also be used to
update the RTC date and time).
If the problem persists, replace
the RTC battery. See the
Hardware Reference Guide for
instructions on installing a new
battery, or contact your Compaq
authorized dealer or reseller for
RTC battery replacement.
Check for proper placement
of the CMOS jumper if
applicable.
1. Run Computer Setup or
Microsoft Windows utilities.
2. Make sure your memory
module(s) are installed
properly.
3. If third party memory has
been added, test using
Compaq-only memory.
4. Verify proper memory
module type.
Reset system board jumpers
to match processor and bus
speeds (select models).
