Quick setup

Initial setup

Remote control & Setup menu
Confirm the antenna is connected correctly, and follow the
steps below for initial setup of the DVD Recorder.
1. Press [
POWER] to turn on the unit.
2. Press [SETUP] to display the Setup menu.
3. Press [ ] [ ] to select "System", "Language", "Playback",
"Record", "Audio", or "TV Tuner" and press [ ] or [ ] to go
to the next or previous level.
4. Press [ ] [ ] to select the item you want to change and
press [ ] or [Enter].
Language --- OSD (see page 25)
System --- TV Type--->Date--->Time
Playback --- Aspect Ratio

Audio

--- Digital Output (PCM / Bit Stream)
Record --- Quality ( HQ, SP, EP, SLP )
5. Press [ENTER] to confirm the setting.
6. Press [SETUP] to exit the setup menu or press [ ] to return
to the previous level.
Notes:
To record TV programs using the timer record feature, you must
set the time accurately.

Aspect ratio

Select "4:3" (regular) or "16:9" (widescreen) to suit your
television. If you have a regular 4:3 television, you can also
select how video on some discs is presented.
4:3 Letter Box
Select when you connect the unit to a normal
(4:3) TV.
When playing a DVD-VIDEO disc recorded in
widescreen format, the picture is shown with
black bars at the top and bottom.
4:3 Pan & Scan
Select when you connect the unit to a normal (4:3) TV.
When playing back a DVD-VIDEO disc
recorded in widescreen format, the picture is
zoomed to fill the screen vertically, and the left
and right sides of the image are cropped.
Notes:
On some discs, the picture will be shown in
Normal/LB mode even if you select Normal/PS mode.
16:9 Wide Screen
Select when you connect the unit to a
widescreen (16:9) TV.
Notes:
You cannot change the "Aspect Ratio" setting during playback.
Progressive Scan mode
You can change the video output mode by pressing the
[SETUP] button and selecting "System-->Video Output
-->Progressive".
(Video will not be displayed correctly if connected to an
incompatible television.)
Video output mode:
480I: Interlace video
480P: Progressive video
Notes:
For Progressive Scan to work properly, you must connect the
unit to the Component Video inputs on a 480P compatible
television.
Audio
Digital Output
PCM / Bit Stream
Enables the digital the audio output with PCM (stereo) or
encoded (raw) data.
DTS Out
ON / OFF
Surround
Stereo / Dolby / Off
