Cutting Rabbets with a Dado Blade
1.
DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER!

Adjust dado blade to height needed for rab-
beting operation. When cutting deep rabbets,
take more than one pass to reduce risk of
kickback.
3.
Adjust fence and align workpiece to perform
cutting operation as shown in Figure 95.

4.
Reconnect saw to power source and turn
saw ON. When blade has reached full speed,
perform test cut with scrap piece of wood.
— If the cut is satisfactory, repeat the cut with
the final workpiece.
Cutting Rabbets with a Standard
Blade
A ripping blade is typically the best blade to use
for cutting rabbets when using a standard blade
because it removes sawdust very efficiently. (See
Page 45 for blade details.) Also, a sacrificial fence
is not required when cutting rabbets with a stan-
dard blade.
To cut rabbets with the standard blade:
1.
DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER!
2.
Mark width of rabbet cut on edge of workpiece,
so you can clearly identify intended cut while
it is laying flat on saw table.

Raise blade up to desired depth of cut (depth
of rabbet channel desired).
Adjust fence so blade is aligned with inside of
your rabbet channel as shown in Figure 96.

Reconnect saw to power source and turn
saw ON. When blade has reached full speed,
perform test cut with scrap piece of wood.
— If the cut is satisfactory, repeat the cut with
the final workpiece.
Lay workpiece on its side, as shown in
Figure 97, adjust saw blade height to inter-
sect with first cut, and perform second cut to
complete the rabbet.
