Overview for commissioning the bus link

Requirements
The following requirements must be met before you commission the bus link:
● PCS 7 (STEP 7) and SIMATIC PDM with "SIMATIC PDM Communication FOUNDATION
Fieldbus" option package are installed on the engineering system.
● You have completely installed and wired the bus link (1 or 2 Compact FF Links).
● You have completely installed PROFIBUS DP. PROFIBUS DP is ready for operation.
● You have connected the FF bus cable. FOUNDATION Fieldbus is ready for operation.
● You should wire a bus link with 2 Compact FF Links to 2 24 V power supplies.
Observe the following section "Connecting the power supply (Page 37)".
Configuring the bus link
Configuring includes the configuration and parameter assignment of the bus link, the
FOUNDATION Fieldbus, and the FF devices on the FF segment. To do this, you can use
PCS 7 (STEP 7) and SIMATIC PDM.
Commissioning the bus link
1. Configure the bus link. For this, select the IM 655‑5 FF module in the PROFIBUS DP >
FF Link folder of the hardware catalog.
2. Set the PROFIBUS address of the Compact FF Link(s).
3. If you want to activate the ring redundancy, you must set the "RING" DIP switch to the "ON"
position.
You can find information on this in section "Setting the PROFIBUS address and redundancy
mode (Page 30)".
4. Switch on the power supply for the bus link.
5. Download the configuration to the target system.

Address on the FOUNDATION Fieldbus
When the Compact FF Link is used, the following addresses are set automatically.
● A Compact FF Link (not redundant): Address 16
● Two Compact FF Links (redundant): Addresses 16 and 17
