Enabling/Disabling Automatic Channel Changing

The WRS/RSX pair provide a channel-changing feature that automatically changes the transmitted radio
channel when excessive interference is detected.
To enable/disable (default setting is enable) this feature, use the following process:
1. Connect a computer cable (540-143) from a computer to the RJ-11 port on the bottom of the WRS.
The WRS wakes up and remains active for the amount of time specified by its HMI port timeout setting
(default = 5 minutes). If the WRS returns to sleep mode before you are done, disconnect and then
reconnect the cable to the WRS port.
2. Start a HyperTerminal session, log on (1200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control), and
then press ENTER to display the HMI prompt.
If there is no communication with the WRS, verify that the battery is properly inserted and the plastic
insulating strip is removed.
3. Type SET RSX and press ENTER.
4. Continue to press ENTER until you see the ENTER RSX RADIO CHANNEL OR SET AUTO-CHANNEL
CHANGE OPTION prompt.
5. Change radio channel setting as follows:
a. To enable automatic channel-changing, type AUTO.
b. To disable automatic channel-changing, enter a channel number (1–15) to utilize for wireless
link communications.
Channel 16 is not typically used for WRS/RSX wireless communication, since due to FCC
regulations, the WRS/RSX pair needs to operate at a lower power/reduced range setting on
that radio channel.
6. Press Y to reboot the WRS and save the new settings.
7. Disconnect the computer from the WRS.
