Use the WRS HMI to configure parameter values for both devices. All configuration settings are stored in
EEPROM and persist through any power disruptions (including changing the battery).
To view factory default values for the WRS (or RSX), you can use the DEFAULT WRS
(or DEFAULT RSX) command.
To configure WRS and RSX parameters:
1. Connect a computer cable (540-143) from a computer to the RJ-11 port on the bottom of the WRS.
The WRS wakes up and remains active for the amount of time specified by its HMI/MMI port timeout
setting (factory default = 5 minutes). If the WRS returns to sleep mode before you are done, disconnect
and then reconnect the cable to the HMI port.
2. Start a HyperTerminal session, log on (1200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control), and
then press ENTER to display the WRS prompt.
If there is no communication with the WRS, verify that the battery is properly inserted and the plastic
insulating strip is removed.
3. Review the WRS/RSX configuration:
a. Type PARAM WRS and press ENTER.
b. Type PARAM RSX and press ENTER.
c. Note any settings that must be changed.
4. As needed, change WRS or RSX configuration settings:
Change the point number for any WRS point that is not used or has a different point number in
the TEC application. For unused points in the TEC application, change the number to 0.
a. Type either SET WRS or SET RSX (see Table 4) and then press ENTER.
b. For each setting, either type the new value and press ENTER, or just press ENTER to keep the
current value and go to the next setting.
c. Type Y to reboot the WRS or RSX and save the setting(s).
5. Disconnect the computer from the WRS.
6. Repeat Steps 1 though 5 for all WRSs.
7. If desired, you can use the workstation features to define alarms for WRS low battery voltage and loss
of wireless communication events using the value of TEC point 99 (see Table 6 for details).
