WRS Battery
The WRS is battery powered, with an expected battery life of about five years. Its power level can be
monitored via TEC point 99 (see Table 6), WRS HMI, or an RTS passkey (P/N 544-643).
To conserve battery power, the WRS operates in a sleep mode most of the time. At user-configurable
frequencies, the WRS wakes up (by default every 60 seconds) to sample the temperature and
communicate its information to the RSX/TEC.
After the WRS is installed and powered, it will stay in a low-power sleep mode—and will
not take temperature readings—until commissioned. On WRSs with an LCD panel, the
displayed temperature value will not change until the WRS is bound to an RSX/TEC.
The WRS battery is discharged at a rate of 1 day (of the 5 year battery life) for each 3
minutes of WRS HMI port use (such as using WRS HMI commands, or using with a
TEC tool such as WCIS).
If a bound and powered WRS loses wireless communication with its RSX, the WRS
discharges its battery at twice the normal operational rate in trying to reestablish
communication with its RSX.
WRS HMI Port
On the bottom of the WRS, there is an RJ-11 port that provides HMI access for WRS configuration and
diagnostics. In addition, you can use the WRS port to connect tools (WCIS version 3.0 or later, Datamate
Base Revision 3.2 or later) for communicating with the TEC associated with that WRS. By default, the
WRS stays awake until 5 minutes pass with no activity (user commands or Tool messages) via the HMI
port. This setting can be changed using the SET WRS command.
The WRS HMI is disabled while tools are connected via the WRS port. To regain access to the WRS
HMI, remove and then reinsert the computer cable.
