Headstock Travel
(z-Axis and Rotation)
headstock height is adjustable in the vertical
z-axis to accept large workpieces. For unique
milling operations, the headstock can be tilted
right or left between 0° and 90°.
To raise or lower the headstock:
1.
unlock the vertical travel lock levers shown in
figure 30.

2.
turn the vertical handwheel shown in figure
30 to raise or lower the headstock, then lock
the vertical travel lock levers.
Note: For maximum spindle rigidity when
milling, keep the spindle retracted into the
headstock as far as possible with the quill
lock lever locked and with the fine feed lock
knob tightened.

To tilt the headstock to the left or right:
1.
During the following steps, be aware that the
headstock is top-heavy and will swing if it is
not well supported once the center bolt and
lock nut are loosened. Always support the
headstock with one hand when loosening
these fasteners. failure to do so may result
in unexpected movement of the headstock,
causing damage to the machine and per-
sonal injury.

support the headstock with one hand, then
using the included 17/19mm combo wrench,
loosen the headstock center bolt and three
angle lock nuts (figure 31).

While watching the tilt scale, rotate the head-
stock to the required angle, then retighten
the center bolt and angle lock nut to hold the
headstock in place.
