If the tyre's maximum speed is below that of
the vehicle, this must be indicated by an
appropriate label in the driver's field of
vision.
Run in new tyres at moderate speeds for the
R
first 100 km.
Replace the tyres after six years at the latest,
R
regardless of wear.
When replacing with tyres that do not
R
feature run-flat characteristics: vehicles
with MOExtended tyres are not equipped
with a TIREFIT kit at the factory. Equip the
vehicle with a TIREFIT kit after replacing with
tyres that do not feature run-flat characteris‐
tics, e.g. winter tyres.
%
You can permanently limit the maximum

Notes on interchanging wheels
& WARNING Risk of injury through differ‐
ent wheel sizes
Interchanging the front and rear wheels can
severely impair the driving characteristics.
The disk brakes or wheel suspension compo‐
nents may also be damaged.
Only interchange the front and rear
#
wheels if the wheels and tyres have the
same dimensions.
Interchanging the front and rear wheels if the
wheels or tyres have different dimensions can
render the general operating permit invalid.
The wear patterns on the front and rear wheels
differ:
front wheels wear more on the tyre shoulder
R
Internal use only
Wheels and tyres 417
rear wheels wear more in the centre of the
R
tyre
Do not drive with tyres that have too little tread
depth. This significantly reduces traction on wet
roads (aquaplaning).
On vehicles with the same front and rear wheel
size, you can interchange the wheels every
5000 to 10,000 km, depending on the wear.
Ensure the direction of rotation is maintained for
the wheels.
Observe the instructions and safety notes on
"Changing a wheel" when doing so
(
page 418).
/
Notes on storing wheels
When storing wheels, observe the following
notes:
After removing wheels, store them in a cool,
R
dry and preferably dark place.
Protect the tyres from contact with oil,
R
grease or fuel.
