FRAMING & FINISHING WITH CONTEMPORARY FACEPLATE
1) Determine the total thickness of facing material (e.g. drywall, wood plus
ceramic tiles) to allow the fi nished surface to be fl ush with the front of the
unit. Total facing thickness can vary from 1/2" (13mm) to 1-1/4" (32mm)
thick.
NOTE: Facing material may not protrude beyond unit, otherwise the
tional accesories will not be able to be mounted to the unit.

2) Frame in the enclosure for the unit with framing material.
Note: When constructing the framed opening, please ensure there is
access to install the gas lines when the unit is installed.
3) For exterior walls, insulate the enclosure to the same degree as the rest
of the house, apply vapour barrier and drywall, as per local installation
codes. (Do not insulate the fi replace itself.)
WARNING: Failure to insulate and add vapor barriers to the inside
of the exterior wall will result in operational and performance prob-
lems including, but not limited to: excessive condensation on glass
doors, poor fl ame package, carbon, blue fl ames etc. These are not
product related issues.
If the Contemporary Faceplate is used on the P33-NG5/P33-LP5
Gas Fireplace, the burner orifi ce (Both NG/LP supplied in this
package) must be replaced and an overlay decal (also supplied with
kit) must be affi xed to the current serial number decal
supplied with unit.
Note: Also see framing dimensions for this optional front if installed
on the P33-5 unit.
Note: Unit must be raised up by 1' to allow for faceplate
installation.

4) Combustible material may be brought up to the top and sides of the unit
and be covered with wood, drywall, ceramic tiles, bricks, rock or other
suitable combustible fi nishing materials.
Note: The unit does not have to be completely enclosed in a chase. The
op-
clearance on top of the unit is 0" to the standoffs so combustible
building materials can be laid directly on top of the standoffs. You
must maintain clearance from the vent to combustible materials
for fl ex or for Rigid Vent (Refer to "Clearances" Section).
5) Use steel studs for framing where the 1-1/2" (38mm) clearance from the
vent to combustible material cannot be maintained.
