9.14 Replacing the keypad

NOTE!
The circuits in the keypad are very sensitive
and therefore always replace a dismantled
keypad with a new one!
The keypad need only be replaced if the diagnosis
indicates there is a fault or when replacing the
crankcase.

Dismantle the drive wheel cover, saw chain and bar.
Separate the crankcase.
Refer to "Basic dismantle/assembly".

Disconnect the contact from the keypad.
Carefully remove the keypad from the chain saw.
See figure 1.

Clean/degrease the surface where the keypad is
mounted.
See figure 2.

Make sure the temperature is at least 15°C and the
surface where the keypad is mounted differs no
more than ± 3°C from the ambient temperature.

Remove the protective tape from the new keypad
and press it onto the surface. Press on the panel
with 10 N/cm² for at least 10 seconds.
NOTE! Do not bend the keypad when assem-
bling.

Apply grease inside the connetor. See figure 5 (A).
Plug in the connector and apply grease on both
sides as shown in figure 5 (B).

Assemble the saw.
