Fill Menu
The Fill menu allows the user to select the current fill pattern
for drawing objects (ellipses, boxes, and polygons) and for
editing existing objects. When "Fill" is selected, a Fill Style
dialog box is displayed showing examples of the fill patterns.
To set the current fill pattern, select the desired fill pattern
from the dialog box, then select the "OK" button. To edit an
existing object, select that object, then select the Fill menu
item, then the desired fill pattern. For further information on
editing object fill patterns, see Editing Objects, page 3-12.
The selected fill pattern is drawn in the current drawing color
(see Color Menu below). The current fill pattern is shown in a
window at the bottom of the CAD screen (page 3-11).
Color Menu
This menu allows the user to select the current drawing color
and background color, and to edit the color of existing objects.
To edit an existing object color, select that object, then select
"Draw Color" from the Color menu. For further information
on editing object color, see Editing Objects, page 3-12.
The current drawing color may be changed by selecting either
"Draw Color" or "Background Color" from the Color menu.
A standard Windows Color dialog box is displayed for either
color selection. This selection becomes the current color for
drawing until changed again.
Draw color - selects the current drawing color for lines, object
outlines, and fill patterns.
Lines and object outlines can only be drawn in "pure"
colors. Pure colors are the "solid" colors shown in the
Windows Color dialog box. If a non-pure color is chosen,
the outline of a filled object is drawn in the pure color and
the fill pattern is drawn in the non-pure color.
Note: Whether or not a color is "pure" depends on how
many colors the PC video graphics card is capable of
supporting. With a 4-bit VGA card, there are only 16 pure
colors; with a 24-bit, 16.8-million color graphics card, all
the colors are pure colors.
Background color - selects the color of the drawing
background. Any color may be selected from the Windows
Color dialog box.
The current drawing color is displayed in a window at the
bottom of the CAD screen (page 3-11).
Edit Menu
This menu allows the user to edit existing lines, objects, text,
or bitmap drawings. Note that some editing functions, such as
moving or scaling objects, is done without using menu
selections. For specific procedures on each editing function,
see Editing Objects, page 3-12.
The Edit menu provides the following selections:
Copy, Rotate - performs the respective operation on a
selected line, object, or text.
Object to Front, Object to Back - moves (restacks) the
selected object as desired.
Erase - deletes the selected object from the map. Objects
can also be deleted using the keyboard "Delete" key.
Undo - allows the user to return the selected object or text to
its condition prior to the last edit action.
The PC keyboard function keys F1 through F9 can also be
used to perform these same editing functions, as follows:
F1 - Copy
F2 - Rotate
F3 - Edit Line Style
F4 - Edit Fill Style
F5 - Edit Text
F6 - Edit Draw Color
F7 - Object to Front
F8 - Object to Back
F9 - Undo
In addition, certain buttons at the bottom of the Excalibur CAD
screen provide duplicate controls for several of the edit
functions. See page 3-11 for definitions of these buttons.
Refer to the description on Editing Objects, page 3-12, for
complete information on editing existing drawing objects.
