EXCALIBUR CAD MENUS
File Menu
The File pull-down menu allows the user to select the
following Excalibur CAD file operations:
New File - clears the program buffers, resets all styles, fill
patterns, and colors to the default values, and clears the
.MAP buffer and the .ICN buffer for creating a new map.
Note: When New File is selected, a warning is displayed
if a previous file has changed and has not been saved.
Open Map - opens an existing .MAP file. A standard
Windows Open dialog box is displayed to select the
desired .MAP file.
Open Map does not open the associated .ICN file; select
Open Icons, below, to open the associated icon file.
Note: When Open Map is selected, a warning is displayed
if a previous file has changed and has not been saved.
Save Map - saves the displayed image data into the currently
opened .MAP file. If no .MAP file is currently open, a
Windows Save As dialog box (see below) is displayed,
requesting operator designation of a .MAP file name.
Save Map As... - saves the current drawing image data into a
new .MAP file. A standard Windows Save As dialog box
is displayed requesting operator designation of a new
.MAP file name.
Open Icons - opens an existing .ICN file. A standard
Windows Open dialog box is displayed to select the
desired .ICN file.
Note: This function does not require that a .MAP file be
already open; however, the .MAP file associated with this
.ICN file should be opened first, via Open Map, above.
Save Icons - saves the displayed icon data into the currently
opened .ICN file. If no .ICN file is open, a Windows Save
As dialog box (see below) is displayed, requesting operator
designation of a .ICN file name.
Save Icons As... - saves the current icon data into a new
.ICN file. A standard Windows Save As dialog box is
displayed requesting operator designation of a new .ICN
file name.
Print... - prints a drawing of the displayed map and any icons
currently displayed on that map. A standard Windows
Print Setup dialog box is displayed asking for operator
print setup selections.
Exit - exits the Excalibur CAD program. If any data has
been changed since the files were last saved, a warning
message is displayed prompting the user to save this data
(page 3-13).
Note: It is important to note that the .MAP FILE and the .ICN
FILE must be saved SEPARATELY, using BOTH the
Save Map (As) and Save Icons (As) commands.
When exiting the Excalibur CAD program (page 3-13) or
when opening a new map or icon file (Open Map, Open Icons),
if any data has been changed since saving the last drawing
changes, a warning message is displayed asking the user
whether to save the map and/or icon files.
When an existing .MAP file is opened, the currently displayed
image and icons are erased from the screen, and the new map
image is displayed.
