American Dynamics CCTV Matrix Switching Systems. The Excalibur SE system allows the user to define surveillance areas to be observed and to provide user-selected icons or symbols representing the key security resources at the surveillance area.
Matrix Switcher, determine the needs of the facility, and set up the Excalibur SE system only after thorough planning. The weakest links in any security/CCTV system using Excalibur SE will be the computer hardware and the quality of the CCTV system installation.

Each of these is created during the setup procedure. The Excalibur SE program files must all reside in the same directory. If they are not, the programs will not execute. This directory is defined, and created if it does not exist, during installation of the Excalibur SE system programs.
File Open, Save, and Print. Refer to the Windows manual for explanation of these boxes. The dialog boxes that are unique to Excalibur SE are explained fully in this manual. Samples of these unique dialog boxes are illustrated in each section of this manual.

Excalibur SE System Setup is started by opening its icon in the Excalibur SE Program Group. After the System Setup window is opened, a dialog box is displayed, as illustrated below, asking for a password.

Set Directory Menu The System Setup program defines the directories that contain the program files and the data files for all other Excalibur SE functions. The data file directory must be defined before other data is entered by any setup functions, and before any map images are created and saved by the Excalibur CAD program.

Set Ports function for the port connected to the Excalibur SE workstation before running the Icons Setup program (Section 4). Set up the ports by selecting “Set Ports” from the Excalibur SE System Setup menu bar. A Setup Ports/Modules dialog box is then displayed, as illustrated below.

The Excalibur SE version allows only three operators to be entered. It is recommended that one operator be given all privileges allowing that operator to setup and modify the system, one operator be given supervisor status, and one operator be given no system access privileges.

Excalibur CAD program. A maximum of 100 maps may be entered in an Excalibur SE sequence. Note: The Maps function cannot be run until the desired map files have been created using the CAD program (see Initial Startup Note, page 1-5).

Exiting Excalibur CAD Program ....3-13 The Excalibur CAD program used in the Excalibur SE version is the same as the CAD program used in the Excalibur version 2.0. Thus any drawings, maps, etc.

EXCALIBUR CAD MENUS File Menu The File pull-down menu allows the user to select the following Excalibur CAD file operations: New File - clears the program buffers, resets all styles, fill patterns, and colors to the default values, and clears the .MAP buffer and the .ICN buffer for creating a new map.

EXCALIBUR CAD Draw Menu The Draw pull-down menu of Excalibur CAD allows the user to select the following drawing functions. Line - allows the user to draw a line. Polyline - allows the user to draw a series of connected lines as one graphic object.

EXCALIBUR CAD Text Menu This pull-down menu allows the user to select text fonts and place text into the image, and to edit existing text. To edit existing text, select the text to be changed, then select the Text menu entry to edit the text or select Font to change the font size, color, or style.

Fill Menu The Fill menu allows the user to select the current fill pattern for drawing objects (ellipses, boxes, and polygons) and for editing existing objects. When “Fill” is selected, a Fill Style dialog box is displayed showing examples of the fill patterns. To set the current fill pattern, select the desired fill pattern from the dialog box, then select the “OK”...

EXCALIBUR CAD Icons Menu The Icons menu allows the user to place, move, or delete icons. Place - allows the user to select and place icons on the screen. Icons are selected directly from the Select Icon to Place dialog box, illustrated to the right. Move - allows the user to move a previously placed icon to a new location.

This changes the display origin point, but not the display scale. Drawings appear faster and cleaner in Excalibur SE viewing when the display is kept near the “Origin” size of 640 by 400. This size is independent of monitor resolution; the Excalibur SE programs can be used at 640 X 480, 800 X 600, or 1024 X 768 monitor resolutions.
The Description menu function brings up a dialog box, illustrated below, prompting the user to enter a drawing description. The description is displayed in the Excalibur SE Window caption bar when this map is called up. If the user attempts to Exit Excalibur CAD or to Save a map...
EXCALIBUR CAD EDITING OBJECTS Existing lines, objects, or text may be copied, moved, deleted, scaled, rotated, styles changed, fill changed, color changed, and text changed. Note: When new map images have been created, they must be entered into the display sequence for proper operation of the Excalibur SE system. After new maps have been saved in the data directory, the Excalibur SE System Setup program, page 6, must be executed to update the map sequence, via the Maps function (page 2-7).

Excalibur SE are described starting on page 4-3. If an icon is selected that is not supported by Excalibur SE (such as Alarm Class, Door Class, Gate Class, or User icons) the following application error message is displayed.
When any of these are selected, applicable operator controls are displayed when this icon is activated in Excalibur SE. The camera Receiver’s auxiliary relays may be set to momentary or latching, as desired. The operator controls in the camera icon dialog box allow either mode.
In the top section, an icon description must be entered. This description is displayed in the dialog box for that icon when it is activated in Excalibur SE. Enter the number of the switcher that this input is connected to. The switcher number entered must be for a valid switcher that is connected and set up.
