EXCALIBUR SE SYSTEM SETUP
Set Ports Menu
The RS-232 serial ports are used for communications to the
Matrix Switching Systems. The serial port parameters must be
set by the Set Ports function for the port connected to the
Excalibur SE workstation before running the Icons Setup
program (Section 4).
Set up the ports by selecting "Set Ports" from the Excalibur SE
System Setup menu bar. A Setup Ports/Modules dialog box is
then displayed, as illustrated below.
The Excalibur SE Setup Ports/Modules dialog box allows
setup of only one Matrix Switcher port. The "Select Module"
option of this dialog box cannot be selected in the Excalibur
SE version.
The "Cancel" button in this dialog box returns the program to
the main System Setup window without selecting a port setup.
AD Switcher Port Setup
To set up a port for a Matrix Switcher, first select the "AD
Switcher" check box. This enables the switcher data entry
boxes below the check box. Enter the Switcher number of the
Matrix Switcher, from 1 to 9. Next, enter the Keyboard
number of this workstation, from 1 to 4. Matrix Switchers can
have up to four keyboards on an RS-232 port. The Excalibur
SE workstation is considered one keyboard by the switcher.
After entering the switcher and keyboard number, select the
"OK" button at the bottom of the dialog box. The Comm Port
Setup dialog box, illustrated on page 2-5, is then displayed.
The Comm Port Setup dialog box lists nine ports for selection,
Com 1 through Com 9. Only the Com 1 or Com 2 port can be
selected from the Excalibur SE version -- the other ports are
grayed out in the dialog box and cannot be selected. Make
sure the port selected is installed and available, or the
Excalibur SE program will issue a port open failure message
and exit when it is opened.
Note: Ensure that a valid switcher and Com Port is selected.
After a port is set by this function, it cannot be cleared from
the system, only the port parameters can be changed.
First select the Com Port connected to the switcher, then select
the desired Baud Rate, Data Bits, Stop Bits, and Parity values
for this port. Only one value can be selected in each parameter
group. The default settings are: 1200 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop
bit, and no parity. The "Default" button at the bottom of the
dialog box resets all port parameters to the default values.
These parameters must be set to match the setting of the
Matrix Switcher's RS-232 port connected to Excalibur SE.
AD Matrix Switching Systems Notes:
* The maximum baud rate for AD Matrix Switchers is 9600.
* When defining the port configuration in the AD Matrix
Switcher setup, set the port for a TERMINAL device, NOT
a KEYBOARD device. (Refer to the appropriate Matrix
Switcher Programming Manual.)
A switcher Description (maximum of 16 characters) may be
entered to identify this switcher. This description appears in
Excalibur SE dialog boxes.
After selecting the port parameters, select the "OK" button to
save the displayed parameters and return to the main Excalibur
SE System Setup window. The "Cancel" button returns to the
System Setup window without saving the setup parameters.
