Chapter 4 Problems and Solutions
The ISDN card will not make an ML-PPP
connection.
First try to connect in PPP mode. You can do this by
using only the first of the two numbers your ISP gave
you to make an ML-PPP connection.
Pay special attention to the entry of your ISP's DN
address. Your ISP should be able to help you configure
your TA/V.34 or TA properly to connect to their
service.
If you can connect in PPP mode but not in ML-PPP
mode, here are some possible explanations:
Your ISP may not support ML-PPP accounts, or your
ISP may not have activated an ML-PPP connection for
you.
If you are not getting the throughput you expect in ML-
PPP mode, make sure that your ISDN card's port
speed is set to at least 230,400 bps. Add %B39 to your
initialization string. The command %B39 sets the port
speed to 460,800 bps; %B38 sets the port speed to
230,400 bps. (Under Windows 95 dial-up networking,
the port speed should be set to 460,800 bps by default.
You can confirm this by viewing the Connect
message.)
It is likely that some of the Web sites you are
connecting to won't support transfer rates at ML-PPP
speeds.
The application software shows that a voice call has
connected, but there is no sound in the handset.
Check handset line connections both to the TA/V.34 or
TA and to the handset.
Note that not all handsets will work with the ISDN
card. The handsets must use a condenser microphone
