Chapter 4 Problems and Solutions
The ISDN card will not receive calls over the ISDN
line.
Can you receive data calls but not handset calls? If so,
check that you have given out the correct DN for
handset calls (by default this is DN2). Check that the
DN call type assignment (!C4 or !C5) for the DN you
have designated for handset calls is configured for
voice or data and voice (default is !C5=1 to configure
DN2 to accept voice calls). If possible, try to call the
TA/V.34 from a nearby telephone on a standard phone
line to confirm that it is now correctly configured.
Can you receive handset calls, but not data calls?
Make sure that the DN call type assignment (!C4 or
!C5) for the DN you have designated for data calls is
configured for data or for data and voice (default is
!C4=0 to configure DN1 to accept data calls).

Calls do not connect.

If analog data calls over ISDN do not connect, check to
make sure your application software setting for Detect
Dial Tone is disabled. Also check that the command
X3 is in the initialization string.
If digital data calls do not connect, check whether your
ISDN line provides 56 Kbps or 64 Kbps channel
speeds. If it provides 56 Kbps, add the command
%A4=1 to your initialization string. See Note 1 on
page 26.
Your TA/V.34 or TA may have been configured for a
switch type that is different from the one you are
connected to at your local telephone company's switch.
Confirm the switch type with your local provider; then
recheck the configuration of your ISDN card.
Some calls connect but not others.
The called parties may be unavailable.
If your telephone company's switch requires call
appearance information for any "voice" type call over
ISDN (faxmodem or handset over ISDN), you must
add both *P1=1 and *P2=1.
Your TA/V.34 or TA is misconfigured for some call
types. Make sure you have initialized the %o
command correctly for the call type you wish to make:
