12. Now, set up Sample and Hold for random panning. To do this, use VOICE RANDOM
modulating at any rate. Go to the TRIGGER menu (soft button 2); set the ENABLE for the
trigger as on, set the TRGSAMP on (which will hold the sample instead of moving
around); set VOXTRG on (new sample per voice).
13. For the voice mix mod, use the sample and hold level, at 37.78, with an offset of about –
25. This will work quite well for spreading the sound across the spectrum.
14. Now, turn on the effects. I use a send of 40.28 with a 100 level out, on the default " LARGE
HALL" reverb. You can tweak this for better results.
15. Finally, add some random modulation: Turn MOD 1 on each filter off. Set MOD 2 instead
to where VOICE RANDOM modulates filter 2 frequency by 0.17. For filter 1, set SAMPLE
AND HOLD to modulate the frequency by – 0.10.

14.2 using the filters for a jean-michel jarre style phased pad:

A nice technique posted by AdamT.
Here`s another tip (something completely different but showing flexability).. if you want to get that
phasery-flangey sound of Jarre`s Eminent with it`s line of SmallStones - instead of using the FX
processor, use the Moogy filter (Filter 2) for the main sound and sweep the level of the Hi-pass filter
on the 12DB one (Filter 1) with a slow LFO along with it, and PAN it too - I did a patch of Jarre`s
Eminent (on the Code404 A6 Patch archive) and it pulls it off fine, sans FX! . useful for other phasey
type patches too :)
Further in this thread:
Yeah--this is a really useful trick. The resonance of filter 1 can be adjusted to good effect.
As can leaving the LEVEL of filter1 set low and modulating the cutoff – this really can create
phasing effects.. I`m creating patches of the "Italian Horror B-Movie" ilk at moment for a soundtrack,
I`ve got one of the synths from "Zombie Flesheaters" down to a tee (Moog 15 I think) , the A6 so far
seems to be only limited by the imagination :)

14.3 setting the engine optimizer:

The engine optimizer is a function hidden in the " Process" menu. The normal " compromise"
timing of the Andromeda works well for bass and pad sounds, but it could be made better
for either type of sound.
Hit " Process" , then turn soft knob one all the way to the right hand side to select the engine
optimizer. Then hit soft knob one to select this function.
The engine optimizer has several settings for VCO:
Normal – The default.
Fast – Fast pitch changes, good for bass sounds.
Smooth – Smooth pitch changes, better for pad sounds that aren' t too slow.
Mushy – Good for deep drones and slower sounds.
The engine optimizer also has several settings for VCA:
Normal – The default.
Fast – Fast filter changes, good for bass sounds.
Slow – Slow filter changes, better for long sweep sounds.
Medium – Medium percussive, for slower bass sounds.
