Symptoms of this kind principally affect the
fingers, hands or wrists and include
(incomplete list):
– numbness,
– pain,
– muscular weakness,
– skin discolouration,
– unpleasant tingling sensation.
Hold the handlebar tightly, but not tensed,
with both hands in the designated
locations during operation.
Plan your working times so that more
severe physical strains over a longer
period are avoided.
4.2 Warning – dangers caused by
electrical current
Warning – risk of
electric shock!
All power supply
components (power
cable, mains plug, ON/OFF switch,
extension cable) must be free from
damage and conform with the
regulations for electrical safety.
Damaged cables, connectors and plugs,
or power or extension electric cables that
do not conform with regulations, must not
be used. Therefore, check the power
supply and electric or extension cable
regularly for signs of damage or ageing
(brittleness) before each use.
Only operate machine with fully uncoiled
power cable.
Extension reels must always be fully
unwound before use.
28
Never use a damaged extension cable.
Replace defective cables with new ones
and never repair extension cables.
Never use the machine if the cables are
damaged or worn. Check the power cable
in particular for damage and ageing.
Maintenance and repair work on power
cables must only be performed by
specially qualified technicians.
Danger of electric shock!
Do not connect a damaged cable to the
mains and never touch a damaged cable
before it has been disconnected from the
mains. Damaged cables can result in
contact with live parts.
Do not touch the scarifying unit (blades)
until the machine has been disconnected
from the mains.
Always ensure that the power cables used
are adequately protected by a fuse.
Although the motor is
splashproof, do not use the
machine when it is raining or in
wet environments.
Only use extension cables that are
insulated against moisture for outdoor use
which are suitable for use with the
machine (
10.1).
Detach electric cables at the plug and
socket and not by pulling on the electric
cable.
Keep the electric or extension cable away
from the blades when using the scarifier to
avoid damage that could result in contact
with live parts.
In case of accident or malfunction,
immediately switch off the scarifier and
disconnect the mains plug.
If the power or extension cable has been
damaged or tangled while using the
machine (e.g. driven over), immediately
switch off the scarifier and disconnect the
mains plug. Check the cable and replace if
necessary.
It must be noted that current fluctuations
can damage the machine when it is
connected to a power generator.
Only connect the machine to a power
supply that is protected by means of a
residual current-operated protective
device with a release current of a
maximum of 30 mA. Your electrician can
provide further information.
For reasons of electrical safety, the electric
cable must always be correctly installed on
the handlebar.

4.3 Clothing and equipment

Always wear sturdy footwear
with high-grip soles when
working. Never work barefoot
or, for example, in sandals.
Suitable safety glasses must be
worn when working.
Also always wear sturdy gloves
and tie up and secure long hair
(headscarf, cap, etc.) when
performing maintenance and
cleaning work or when transporting the
machine.
Always wear long trousers and tight-fitting
clothing when operating the machine.
Never wear loose clothes which may
become caught on moving parts (control
levers) – do not wear jewellery, ties or
scarves.
