The user must ensure that the machine is
only operated with a power supply which
meets this requirement. If necessary, this
information can be obtained from the local
electric power company.

10.2 Strain relief

During working, the strain relief
prevents any unintentional
disconnection of the electric cable and any
resulting damage to the mains connection
on the machine.
For this reason, the electric cable must be
fed through the strain relief.
● Form a loop in the power cable (1) and
guide it through the opening (2).
● Then push the loop over the hook (3)
and pull it tight.

10.3 Switching on the scarifier

Risk of injury!
Only switch on the motor when the
scarifying unit is in the transport
position.
Never tip the scarifier to switch on
the motor.
● 1 Press and hold down ON button (1).
● 2 Pull motorstop lever (2) to the
handlebar and hold.
● The ON button (1) can be released
once motorstop lever (2) is pulled.
● Lower the scarifying unit into the
operating position and scarify the lawn.

10.4 Switching off the scarifier

● Place the scarifying unit in the
transport position. (
● Release motorstop lever (1). The motor
and scarifying blades come to a stop
after a short run-down time.

11. Maintenance

11.1 General

Risk of injury!
Observe the safety instructions in
the section "For your safety" (
Annual service by the specialist dealer:
The scarifier should be inspected once
annually by a specialist dealer. STIHL
recommends STIHL specialist dealers.

11.2 Cleaning the machine

Maintenance interval:
After each use
Care of the machine will protect it against
damage and extend its service life.
● Place the scarifier on firm, level and flat
ground.
● Cleaning position:
Detach the grass catcher box
(accessory – not included in standard
equipment), fold down upper
handlebar (1) (
discharge flap (2). Tilt scarifier (3)
upwards at the front by raising it at
carrying handle (4). Set down the
scarifier as shown and allow the upper
handlebar to rest on the ground.

● Only clean the machine using water,
with a brush or with a cloth. Remove
accumulated clipping deposits using a
stick. If necessary, use a special
cleaner (e.g. STIHL special cleaner).
● Never aim hose water or high-pressure
cleaners at electric components like
switches, parts of the motor, V-belts,
seals or bearing points.
● Clean the scarifying unit.
● Remove dirt from the cooling air guide
(inlet slots) between the motor hood
and the housing to ensure that the
motor is adequately cooled.

11.3 Electric motor and wheels

The electric motor is maintenance-free.
The wheel bearings are maintenance-free.

11.4 Upper handlebar

Maintenance interval:
Before each use
● Check the upper handlebar for damage
– it is coated with an insulating layer.
Should this layer become damaged, do
not operate the scarifier and have the
upper handlebar replaced by a
specialist dealer. STIHL recommends
STIHL specialist dealers.

11.5 Scarifying unit

Risk of injury!
Worn blades may break off and
cause serious injuries. It is
therefore essential that
maintenance is always performed
as described.
