Engine Running Behavior

If engine running behavior is still
unsatisfactory after the air filter has been
serviced and the carburetor and throttle
cable have been adjusted correctly, the
cause may also be in the muffler.
Have the muffler checked for
contamination (coking) by a servicing
dealer!
STIHL recommends that maintenance
and repair work be carried out only by
authorized STIHL dealers.

Storing the Machine

For periods of about 3 months or longer
Drain and clean the fuel tank in a
N
well ventilated area.
Dispose of fuel properly in
N
accordance with local
environmental requirements.
Run the engine until the carburetor
N
is dry – this helps prevent the
carburetor diaphragms sticking
together.
Clean the rakes and tines and check
N
them for damage
If the unit is stored with the drive
N
tube disassembled: Fit the
protective cap to avoid dirt getting
into the coupling.
Thoroughly clean the machine – pay
N
special attention to the cylinder fins
and air filter.
Store the machine in a dry and
N
secure location out of the reach of
children and other unauthorized
persons.
Inspection and Maintenance
by User
Adjusting the Throttle Cable
The throttle cable can be adjusted only
when the machine is properly
assembled. The control handle must be
in the normal operating position.
If the following adjustments do not
produce the required result, have your
servicing dealer repair the machine.
STIHL recommends an authorized
STIHL servicing dealer.
Checking Adjustment of Throttle Cable
Error: Engine speed increases when
only the throttle trigger is pulled.
Start the engine.

Pull the throttle trigger (1) – do not
N
press down the throttle trigger
lockout (2).
If the engine speed increases or if the
attachment runs, the throttle cable has
to be adjusted.
Shut down the engine.
