Exam ine t he used ribbon for an im age:
I f t h e r e is a n im a ge on t h e u se d r ibbon :
 Verify t hat t he ribbon was properly loaded per Sect ion 2.4.
 I f properly loaded, t he w rong coat ing configurat ion w as
used. ( To ver ify t he inked side, press t he adhesive backing
of a label against t he ribbon surface. I nk will only lift from
t he coat ed side of t he ribbon.) Clean t he print head ( see
Sect ion 5.2) ; t hen replace t he ribbon wit h t he correct t ype
for t he print er, Sect ion 2.4.
I f t h e r e is n o im a ge on t h e u se d r ibbon :
Print any I nt ernal Test Label, see Sect ion 4.4.) I f an im age
is print ed, t hen check t he prot ocol and port set t ings for
bot h t he print er and host . These set t ings m ust m at ch.
The heat set t ing m ay be t oo low. Make an adj ust m ent in
t he soft ware program or t hrough t he m enu.
The m edia/ ribbon com binat ion m ay be incorrect . Cont act a
Media Repr esent at ive.
The print head or print head cable( s) m ay be loose; power
'Off' t he print er t hen reconnect .
Ensure t hat t he print er is at READY.
Observe t he Front Panel, if t he READY light does not flash
as you send t he form at check t he prot ocol and port
set t ings bet w een t he print er and host .
Ensure t he int erface cable m eet s t he requirem ent s found
in Sect ion 2.1.2.
