Assembly
Use new snap rings when assembling the transmission shaft components. Install the snap
ring (and thrust washer) so that the sharp edge is facing away from the gear that is putting
thrust against it. The sharp edge is shown in the photo on the left.
Also, make sure the snap rings are fully seated in their grooves as shown. Spread the new
snap rings only enough to slide them down the shaft and into their grooves.
Note: Coat the gears and shafts lightly with fresh engine oil before installation.
