Before You Begin

Carefully read
"Safety
Information" on page ix before beginning any of the procedures in this chapter.
After using the respirator, clean it according to these instructions and perform a regular operational inspection as
outlined in
"Chapter 2: Inspecting the
service and tag it for repair by authorized personnel.
Prior to handling or using any of the cleaning agents mentioned in this instruction, please consult the manufacturer's
Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for precautions and important instructions.

Cleaning the Respirator

To clean the respirator

Using a damp sponge, wipe any accumulated dirt from the exterior of the respirator.
TIP
The light sensor for the HUD brightness control is located on the front of the remote gauge housing. Be sure
to clean the front of the remote gauge housing to enable proper functioning of the sensor.
2 Clean the facepiece and mask-mounted regulator as described in
"Cleaning the Mask-Mounted
You can remove the shoulder harness and waist pad assemblies for decontamination or laundering as described in the
3M Scott Air-Pak X3 Pro Inspection and Cleaning Instructions (P/N 595360-01).
