SCANNING OVERVIEW
6.5 SCANNING OVERVIEW
[E]
[D]
Initializing
• The exposure lamp [A] (a xenon lamp in this model) illuminates the original. The
image is reflected onto a CCD [B] (charge coupled device) via several mirrors,
and through the lenses.
• When you turn on the machine's main power, the scanner optics unit moves to
the home position sensor [C]. After the HP sensor detects the scanner optics unit,
the scanner moves under the white plate [E] (this is the home position of the
scanner optics unit).
• If the scanner home position sensor is not activated within a certain time, a home
position sensor error will occur.
Scanning
Platen mode
• When the machine receives a job command, the scanner optics unit scans the
white plate [E] and then an original.
• After scanning an original, the scanner optics unit moves to the HP sensor [C].
• The scanner optics unit stops at the home position after the HP sensor detects it.
ADF mode
• The scanner optics unit scans the white plate [E] and then moves back to the
ADF exposure glass [D].
• The scanner optics unit stops to scan an original under the ADF exposure glass.
• After scanning an original, the scanner optics unit moves to the HP sensor [C].
• The scanner optics unit stops at the home position after the HP sensor detects it.
