Double-sided originals

– Front side –
• An original is fed to the exit sensor in
the same manner as for the single-sided
scanning mode.
– Rear side –
• When the exit sensor [A]
detects the trailing edge of an
original, the exit roller [C]
turns in reverse.
• The junction gate [B] closes
because of its weight after the
original goes past it.
• Because of this, when the exit
roller feeds the original, it
goes up to the registration
roller.
• After skew is corrected, the
roller [G] is pulled away from
the exit roller [C] by the exit
roller release solenoid.
• The roller [G] is moved into contact with the exit roller [C] again by the exit roller
release solenoid when the read sensor [I] detects the trailing edge of the original.
• When the exit sensor [H] detects the trailing edge of the original, the original is
sent again to the exit tray through the scanner, past the registration roller [D],
first [E], second transport roller [F] and exit roller [C] without scanning at this
time.
• This ensures that the original will be correctly stacked front side down in the exit
tray.
