Measuring temperature of children above the age of
three years and adults
Measure the temperature in the rectum for the most accurate result when measuring
the temperature of children under the age of three years. See the instructions for rectal
measurement above. You can also select one of the other two options to measure your
or your child's temperature. When you measure in the armpit or under the tongue, the
result is usually 0.5 °C (0.9 °F) to 1 °C (1.8 °F) lower than actual body temperature.
Note: The beep sound is only for the rectal measurement. Do not stop at the beep
when using the thermometer in the armpit or under the tongue. Ignore any beep and
wait for 5 minutes, with the thermometer at the measurement location, before reading
the measurement from the display.
Measurement in the armpit
For armpit measurements:
1 Follow steps 1 to 2 under ‚Rectal measurement'.
2 Make sure your or your child's armpit is dry. Place the tip of the digital thermometer
in the armpit.
3 Press the arm against the body to hold the digital thermometer in place for
5 minutes. Ignore any beeps during this time. After 5 minutes, the display shows the
temperature measurement.
4 Follow steps 8 to 9 under ‚Rectal measurement'.
Measurement under the tongue
For measurements under the tongue:
1 Follow steps 1 to 2 under ‚Rectal measurement'.
2 Place the tip of the digital thermometer under your or your child's tongue and keep it
in place for 5 minutes. Make sure the lips are sealed.
3 Ignore any beeps during this time. After 5 minutes, the display shows the
temperature measurement.
4 Follow steps 8 to 9 under ‚Rectal measurement'.
Results may vary based on the individual and the method you used.

Children's temperature
A child's temperature normally is between 36.5 °C (97.7 °F) and 37.5 °C (99.5 °F). A
child's temperature varies depending on age, activity, time of day, etc. Some illnesses do
not have high temperature as a symptom.
Important
Temperature measurement is not a substitute for going to your doctor. State the
measurement method when you report your child's temperature to a healthcare
professional. This thermometer is intended as an aid. Never leave your child alone.
Always make sure there is someone present to look after the child and take care of its
needs.
Features
Celsius (°C)/Fahrenheit (°F)
You can select Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F) to measure the temperature. When the
digital thermometer is off, press and hold the on/off button for 2 seconds. This changes
the measurement unit.
Last temperature recall
The digital thermometer has a memory function. When you switch on the digital
thermometer, the display shows the last measured temperature for 2 seconds. When the
display shows ‚Lo', you can perform the measurement.
Battery-low signal
The battery is low when you see a dot in the bottom right corner of the display (Fig. 16).
You can no longer measure the temperature correctly. Replace the battery (see ‚Remove
and insert batteries').
Cleaning
Clean with warm water and some washing-up liquid.
- Clean the digital thermometer and its parts gently to avoid damage.
- Do not use abrasive cleaning agents. Do not use anti-bacterial cleaning agents. Do
not use chemical solvents. A very high concentration of cleaning agents may cause
plastic to crack.
- Do not immerse the digital thermometer in alcohol or any other liquid.
- Never clean the digital thermometer in a dishwasher, microwave sterilizer or by
boiling in water.
Storage
Put the protection cap on the digital thermometer after use. Store it in a clean and dry
place.

Remove and insert batteries
1 Press the top and the bottom of the battery cover. Pull gently to remove it (Fig. 17).
2 Use a pen to remove the battery (Fig. 18). Do not pull the battery tray more than
1 cm out of the digital thermometer. The sensor can break off.
3 Dispose of the battery in a proper way.
4 Insert a new battery (Fig. 19).
5 Press the battery cover back onto the digital thermometer until it clicks into place
(Fig. 20).
Error signal
If the digital thermometer does not work properly, the display shows 'Err'. Remove
the batteries and wait 1 minute. Insert the batteries again and switch the digital
thermometer back on.
Additional baby care products
Nasal aspirator
Warnings:
- Never use the nasal aspirator in the child's mouth or ears.
- Never point the tip directly in the center of the nostril.
1 Remove the cap of the nasal aspirator.
2 Squeeze the aspirator bulb and place the tip gently into the child's nostril and tilt the
tip to the side. Be careful not to insert the aspirator into the child's nose too far.
3 Release the bulb slowly to let the suction draw mucus out of the child's nose.
4 Repeat the process with the other nostril.
Cleaning
1 Disassemble all parts of the nasal aspirator and wash them in warm water with
washing-up liquid.
2 Clean the nasal aspirator in boiling water for 10 minutes and dry it afterwards.
Finger toothbrush
Place the finger toothbrush on your fingertip to massage the baby's gums gently.
Cleaning
Clean with a sterilizer or boiling water. Let it cool down and dry.
Brush and comb
Brush/comb the baby's hair from root to tip.
Tip: Carefully keep a hand on the roots while brushing or combing to avoid pulling the
baby's scalp.
Cleaning
Clean with warm water and some washing up liquid. Rinse them thoroughly and let
them dry.
Nail cutter and scissors
Be careful not to cut the nails too close to the baby's skin.
Tip: We advise you to cut the baby's nails after a bath when the nails are soft, or when
the baby sleeps.
Cleaning
Wipe the nail cutter and the scissors with a damp cloth and dry them.
Note: You can sterilize the nail cutter and the scissors by wiping their cutting edges
with alcohol.
Emery boards
Gently glide the emery board across the baby's nails.
Pouch
Save all items in the pouch and store them in a dry place.

Recycling

Digitální teploměr (SCH420)
Zamýšlené použití
Digitální teploměr je určený pro domácí použití. Tělesnou teplotu sobě či svému dítěti
měřte digitálním teploměrem v konečníku, pod jazykem nebo v podpaží. U dětí mladších
tří let doporučujeme používat digitální teploměr pouze k měření teploty v konečníku.
Důležité bezpečnostní informace
Před použitím přístroje si pečlivě přečtěte tyto důležité informace a uschovejte je pro
budoucí použití.
Varování
- Udržujte zařízení mimo dosah malých dětí a domácích zvířat. Tyto výrobky obsahují
díly s ostrými hranami a malé součástky. Při vdechnutí či spolknutí drobných součástí
může hrozit nebezpečí udušení.
- Nebezpečí spolknutí baterií! Digitální teploměr obsahuje knoflíkovou baterii. Pokud
knoflíkovou baterii spolknete, může během pouhých 2 hodin způsobit vážné vnitřní
popáleniny a dokonce zapříčinit smrt. Kryt přihrádky baterie digitálního teploměru je
třeba po vyjmutí vždy řádně nasadit zpět.
- Před každým použitím i po něm všechny výrobky vyčistěte a osušte (viz ‚Čištění'). Po
použití digitálního teploměru rektálně nebo v podpaží jej již z hygienických důvodů
nepoužívejte k orálnímu měření, a to ani po omytí.
- Baterie mohou pod vlivem vysoké teploty nebo ohně explodovat. Neskladujte ani
nenechávejte žádný výrobek na přímém slunci nebo v blízkosti zdroje tepla.
- Baterii se nesnažte dobíjet.
- Osoby (včetně dětí) s omezenými fyzickými a duševními schopnostmi nebo
nedostatkem zkušeností a znalostí by neměly s teploměrem manipulovat, pokud
nebyly o používání teploměru předem instruovány nebo nejsou pod dohledem osoby
zodpovědné za jejich bezpečnost.
- Před použitím zařízení vždy zkontrolujte, zda není poškozené. Nepoužívejte zařízení,
pokud je poškozené, mohlo by to vést ke zranění.
- Zařízení nerozebírejte, neopravujte, ani za žádných okolností nevyměňujte jakoukoli
jeho součást, mohlo by to vést ke zranění.
- Digitální teploměr nepoužívejte v blízkosti elektrického nebo magnetického pole, např.
magnetů, vysílačů rádiového signálu nebo mikrovlnných trub. Mohlo by to způsobit
chyby v měření a omezit základní funkčnost digitálního teploměru.
- Nepoužívejte digitální teploměr ve vzdálenosti do 30 cm od RF zařízení (např. mobilní
telefony, elektronické chůvičky, telefony DECT apod.). Mohlo by to způsobit chyby
v měření a omezit základní funkčnost digitálního teploměru.
Upozornění
- Digitální teploměr je vhodný k použití při pokojových teplotách v rozpětí 10 °C až
40 °C. Při použití mimo tento teplotní rozsah není přesnost měření zaručena.
- Digitální teploměr nepouštějte na zem a nevystavujte jej nárazům, mohlo by dojít
k poškození zařízení a nepřesným měřením.
- Hrot digitálního teploměru neohýbejte ani nerozebírejte.
- Nepoužívejte digitální teploměr, zobrazuje-li se na displeji v pravé dolní části tečka. To
signalizuje slabou baterii a měření budou nepřesná.
- Při orálním měření teploty nekousejte do kovového hrotu. Při měření teploty orálně
zabraňte dítěti, aby kousalo do kovového hrotu. Hrot si dejte jednoduše pod jazyk.
Elektromagnetická pole (EMP)
Toto zařízení Philips odpovídá všem platným normám a předpisům týkajícím se
elektromagnetických polí.
Měření teploty u dětí do tří let
Rektální měření
Poznámka: Chcete-li získat co nejpřesnější výsledek při měření teploty u dětí
mladších tří let, měřte teplotu v konečníku.
1 Sejměte z digitálního teploměru ochranný kryt. Zkontrolujte, zda je kovový snímač
pružné špičky stále pevně připevněn k digitálnímu teploměru.
2 Digitální teploměr zapněte stisknutím tlačítka pro zapnutí/vypnutí. Všechny položky
na displeji se krátce rozsvítí. Počkejte, až se na displeji zobrazí „Lo" (viz ‚Poslední
naměřená teplota').
3 Potřete hrot digitálního teploměru lubrikantem na bázi vody.
4 Dítě položte na břicho nebo na bok.
5 Jednou rukou mu roztáhněte zadeček. Druhou rukou digitální teploměr jemně zasuňte
maximálně 12 mm do konečníku. Ujistěte se, že kovová sonda teploměru je zcela
zasunutá. Pokud narazíte na odpor, ihned přestaňte. Pružnou špičku nezasunujte příliš
hluboko do konečníku.
6 Dítě držte pevně, aby se po zasunutí digitálního teploměru do konečníku neotočilo.
7 Nechte digitální teploměr zasunutý, dokud ukazatel °C/°F nepřestane blikat a digitální
teploměr nezapípá.

8 Digitální teploměr vyjměte a přečtěte údaj na displeji. Pokud se na displeji zobrazuje
„Lo" (teplota je < 32,0 °C) nebo „Hi" (teplota je > 42,9 °C) bezprostředně po měření,
digitální teploměr nedokáže teplotu změřit. Teploměr vypněte a poté ho znovu
zapněte. Opakujte měření podle kroku 5 uvedeného výše.
Poznámka: Teploměr indikuje pouze horečku. Pokud je teplota dítěte pod
normálem, pípá jednou za sekundu. Výsledky se mohou lišit v závislosti na
jednotlivci.
9 Po každém použití digitální teploměr vypněte a vyčistěte (viz ‚Čištění'). Teploměr se po
10 minutách automaticky vypne.
Měření teploty u dětí starších tří let a u dospělých
Chcete-li získat co nejpřesnější výsledek při měření teploty u dětí mladších tří let, měřte
teplotu v konečníku. Viz pokyny pro rektální měření výše. Při měření teploty u sebe
nebo u staršího dítěte můžete také vybrat jednu z dalších dvou možností. Když měříte
v podpaží nebo pod jazykem, je výsledek obvykle o 0,5 °C až 1 °C nižší než skutečná
tělesná teplota.
Poznámka: Zvuk pípnutí platí pouze pro rektální měření. Pokud měříte teplotu
v podpaží nebo pod jazykem, teploměr po pípnutí nevytahujte. Případná pípnutí ignorujte
a s vytažením teploměru z místa měření a přečtením teploty z displeje počkejte 5 minut.
