Replenishing Coolant

Open co o la n t re s e rvo ir cap o nly
w hen the c o o la n t te m p e ra tu re is
below 194° F (90° C). F irst turn
cap to notch num b er I to relieve
excess pressure. If opened im m e­
diately hot co o la n t and vaper
w ould be ejected.
To replenish co ola nt, the c a r m ust
be on level ground.
P our co ld w a te r into a h o t e ngine
only if it is running. Both hot and
cold engines can be re a d ily fille d
up w ith hot w ater.
For an tifreeze brands refe r to
" Fuels, C oolants, L u brican ts, e tc ." .

The c o o la n t level m ust reach:
• w hen the c o o la n t is co ld to the
v is ib le m a rkin g in the ra d ia to r
fille r neck,
• w hen the c o o la n t is hot to about
0.4 in. (1 cm ) above th e m a rkin g.
The d rain p lu g s are situ a te d on
the R-H e n g in e side and on the
ra d ia to r bottom .
Checking Fuels Coolants

T he c o o la n t re s e rv o ir w ith the fille r
neck is se parated from the ra d ia to r
and lo ca te d in fro n t o f the battery.
The c o o la n t level m ust reach:
• to m a rkin g (1) on the re se rvo ir
if th e c o o la n t is cold,
• a b o u t 0.8 in. (2 cm) h ig h e r if the
c o o la n t is hot.
The d ra in p lu g s are on the rig h t
and le ft s id e o f the e n g ine and
on th e ra d ia to r bottom .
